I love to support other small businesses, so I'm going to start sharing occasional blog posts featuring other local businesses that I love!
This time I'm featuring Candle Ready Cakes, out of Dubuque Iowa. I've done a few of there cake classes and had quite a few of there delicious treats including cupcakes, cake balls and new just dough! They offer different treats daily as well as specialty cakes and treats for any occasion.
The owners are a Mother daughter team, how cool is that! Jill tells us how she got started and why she loves it...
"I attended culinary school in Arizona and moved to Chicago to work in a restaurant as a Pastry Chef. After about a year I realized that the hours were making it difficult to make it home to see family. At that time I decided to move home and started making cakes out of my house while working other part time jobs. We started getting so busy that I had to quit my part-time jobs. I talked to my mom (my now business partner) about it and she suggested we open up the Candle Ready Cakes store front together!"
I love that I come to work each day and am able to be creative and work on different designs for each cake.
"We just started selling Just Dough, edible cookie dough. It is something I saw at other bakeries in New York, etc. and I saw how popular it was. We decided to purchase it from another bakery in Iowa because we don't have the time or space to make it. We have been selling it for about 2 weeks now and people love it! "
Recently I had the ladies at Candle Ready Cakes make me a couple of pupcakes for a pupcake smash that I did with my two fur-babies! Contact them for a pupcake for your fur-babies:)
Stop at Candle Ready Cakes Tuesday-Saturday for delicious cupcakes, cakeballs, new just dough and more! They are located at 197 Main St. in Dubuque, Iowa. Contact them for specialty order cakes + more for your birthdays, baby showers, weddings + other events!
